they came back! The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards return this spring to honor the best in scripted and unscripted media.
The awards show will take place on Sunday, May 7 at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles. For the sixth year in a row, the ceremony will honor both films and television. In the past, the event only honored films but was expanded in 2017 to include TV programming.
For the past two years, Duel has been the co-host to carry on the night. One host announces the scripted praise while the other handles the unscripted portion. Last year, Vanessa Hudgens And Tayshia Adams Mike turned on, handling the scripted and unscripted parts respectively. A host has yet to be announced for this year.
Diversity It was revealed in February 2023 that the special event was going to combine the two ceremonies and they were not to take place in different time blocks.
The show will air internationally on MTV and will be available to watch in over 170 countries. The host, nominations, performers, presenters and additional details will be announced closer to the ceremony.
Last year’s awards included gender-neutral nominations and introduced new categories including Best Song, Best Reality Comeback, Best Music Documentary, Best Reality Romance and Best Reality Star. Ahead of the Netflix reality series cast’s big win, Chrishell Stause, g flip And jason oppenheim They were seen hugging inside the venue. The official social media page of the award show then shared a clip of the trio hugging.
“My #SellingSunset heart just isn’t ready for #MTVAwards moments like this,” MTV captioned a video of the trio before the unscripted portion of the night. In the clip the Stooges are seen saying, “What’s up?” On camera.
The ceremony also hands out special honorees, including the Comedic Genius Award, the MTV Generation Award, and the MTV Reality Royalty Lifetime Achievement Award. During the 2022 broadcast, Jack Black While awarded the trophy for his distinguished comic career Jennifer Lopez Generation Award. bethenny frankel The second part won the Reality Lifetime Achievement Award.
