A Motivating Story of A Women
Here is my Story of how I went from being a refugee kid in Kenya to owning and operating a profitable home-based company in Ethiopia, a poverty-stricken, war-torn nation.
Because they believe it is unattainable, some individuals quit dreaming or give up on their aspirations. Some people still have aspirations, but they are buried deep inside them, fearful of failure and self-doubt. Life, on the other hand, is worthless without ambitions, objectives, and enthusiasm.
My dream used to be to remain secure and alive in a nation ripped apart by civil conflict. I grew up in an area where peace and security were rare if they existed at all. I left my country when I was eleven years old.
The last thing I remember seeing on the way out of our tiny town on a packed bus were corpses on the ground, mass graves being dug along the side of the road, and distant gunshots.
I remember being terrified and hoping that I would make it out alive and unscathed. Fortunately, I did.
I became a refugee in a nearby nation shortly after that. I spent two years in a refugee camp with appalling living conditions. When I left home, the only thing I had were the clothes I was wearing. I recall hearing about life in the United States and Canada while in refugee camps.
I had a fantasy that one day I would be able to go to a free nation and attend school. I felt it would be great if I could simply go to school, have enough food to eat, a few clean clothing, and some books.
All of those simple and fundamental goals seemed so far away at the time. However, I continued to have hoped since it was the only thing I had left at the time.
Locate Individuals Who Cared
I got sponsors in Canada after a year in a refugee camp. Because I had no family in Canada or the United States, that aspect was nothing short of a miracle. The chances of going to the free world without any family or ties were low to none.
Having said that, I was one of the fortunate ones. I was fortunate in that I was able to locate individuals who cared and reached out to me. Someone I didn’t know cared enough about me, and that was a touching aspect. That gift of love has permanently altered the path of my life.
On October 16, 1993, I landed at Halifax International Airport. I recall that day as if it were yesterday.
It was a lovely bright day, and the leaves had begun to turn, yet it felt like minus 15 to me, even though locals thought it was a brisk autumn day.
Apart from the cold, I was happy to be in Canada. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
I just knew the letters when I initially came, and that was the limit of my English language expertise. The guidance counselor gave me a tour of the school on the first day of school.
I recall walking into a room full of books and thinking I’d died and gone to paradise. That was the very first time I entered a library. I liked reading books, and here I was, surrounded by hundreds of them that I could borrow at any moment. Wow!
I was able to take up the language and perform well in school within a fair amount of time. Then I had a different dream. I wanted to go to university and become a nurse so that I could assist others.
I put forth a lot of effort in high school, graduated with honors, and was awarded a scholarship to a nearby institution. In 2006, I received my BSc Nursing degree from Dalhousie School of Nursing and began working at a local hospital.
Today, I’m grateful for the individuals who have had a good impact on my life, especially my lovely little daughter. I consider myself fortunate to be parenting her in a free nation.
I’m sure she’s already living a better life and will have more chances in the future. I love what I do as a nurse and am grateful for the Nurses and Doctors with whom I work.
Believe in one Self
I’m living the life of my dreams. This isn’t the end of the tale, however. This is only the start. I still have more ambitions and objectives because I believe that if you BELIEVE, everything is possible.
I’ve wanted to operate a successful home-based company since I was 19 years old when I was first exposed to network marketing. The idea of network marketing, as well as the business as a whole, appealed to me.
I’m really thrilled to be working with a bunch of accomplished online and network marketers from the United States right now. I have the privilege of working with these great people and a fantastic team.
My aim is to be able to make a significant amount of money so that I may follow some of my other ambitions and aspirations. I’d want to return home and assist those who are in the same position as I was as a child. I know my dream will come true since the very fact that I am alive today is a miracle to me.
You may be wondering now, what does this have to do with me and my dreams?
It is really personal.
My story proves that no matter what has occurred in the past, where you have come from, or where you have been if you have a goal and are ready to follow it, it will come true.
I had all the odds stacked against me when I first started out, but I never gave up on my goals and dreams.
For the young girl whose father died when she was four, who fled her country at eleven and lived in a refugee camp at twelve, I kept my dream alive.
She was bold and powerful, and she reminded me of myself.
What are you prepared to sacrifice in order to live the life of your dreams?
Are you prepared to believe in yourself and your abilities, as well as take action?
Are you willing to be receptive to new ideas?
Are you eager to learn and develop?
Are you open to stepping outside of your comfort zone?
I know one thing for certain: despite my previous tragedies, I was ready to undertake all of those things.
My dreams have all come true, and yours may as well.
You can do whatever you put your mind to, and if that includes establishing a successful home-based company, you can do it.
I’m here to tell you that if I can do it, anybody can – and that includes you!
