Is Frank Ocean In your flop era? No, she isn’t — but fans weren’t thrilled after her headlining set at Coachella. The April 16 performance was less ‘comeback’ and more ‘faceplant’, with the 35-year-old Frank taking the stage an hour after his scheduled start time. He also spent much of the set visible through a giant video screen, only occasionally appearing behind it to stand in front of the crowd. Amid reports about why the reclusive and beloved artist failed to deliver, hollywood reporter Claims that Frank “injured his ankle” in rehearsals during the week before Coachella. The “production of his show was adjusted according to the advice of doctors,” claims THR.
The delayed start time meant that Frank’s set was essentially cut in half due to Coachella having to adhere to a strict midnight curfew on Sunday. After being on stage for an hour, Frank told the crowd, “Guys, I’m told it’s curfew, so that’s the end of the show. Thank you very much.” (h/t Rolling stone) To top it all, Frank’s performance was not included on YouTube’s Coachella live stream, angering the people at home who were waiting to see him perform.

However, Frank had his defenders. “I was blown away by Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance,” Justin Biber Wrote after response. “His artistry is unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail. I was very impressed. It inspired me to grow and be better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and give me a night I will never forget! Thanks, Frank.

Both TMZ and Festive Owl, an online source for “festival news, lineups, rumors” and more, reported that something big was supposed to be in store. TMZ also reports that Frank injured himself while doing something with a bike around the grounds of the Empire Polo Club, and the injury was so severe that doctors recommended a set change. Apparently, 100 Los Angeles hockey players were included in the set, which also included an ice rink. “The stage production was supposed to (and did) include an ice rink that was built and ready to go. Frank decided at the last minute that he didn’t want it anymore at all. At the beginning of the performance Everyone walking around him were actually ice skaters, having been practicing for weeks, and were supposed to be skating as part of the production.
I’ve been talking with sources about what really happened and how things got so far on Sunday #Frank Ocean , #coachella…so here you go 👇

“Coachella had to rebuild the approved stage (which was planned and signed off months in advance) + melt down the entire ice rink and then set it up how Frank decided today without warning. That’s it Which you saw, and caused an hour-long delay. All this after the doors had already opened for Sunday, and people were reserving their spots to see it,” tweeted @TheFestive Owl.
If last-minute changes hadn’t been made, he might not have performed at all – leaving the festival without a closing headliner. In the end it left a very sour taste. And I quote – ‘It didn’t look like he wanted to be there, but he was bound to be. Everything (including him) disintegrated at the last moment. About the set Don’t expect to see any coverage from the festival in the U.S. Something that is unprecedented in the history of Coachella. Relations are not in good shape right now.”
